Dr Samuel Lim
Dr Samuel Lim is a consultant psychiatrist with a special interest in community psychiatry and psychotherapy. He specialises in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, relational difficulties and personality disorders.
Dr Lim completed an undergraduate degree in psychology at University College London, United Kingdom and obtained his medical degree at King’s College London. He undertook psychiatry training at The Maudsley Hospital in London, achieving membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. During this time, he also held an Academic Fellowship with the Centre for Neurodegenerative Disease and was involved in research in psychosis and dementia. Following his relocation to Australia, Dr Lim achieved accreditation for his prior experience and pursued further training in psychiatry. He initially worked at the Royal North Shore Hospital where he developed the curriculum for the mental health component of the North Shore Police probationary constable orientation program. While working as a Staff Specialist Psychiatrist at Prince of Wales Hospital, he held the position of Co-ordinator of the Registrar Training Programme.
Dr Lim has extensive experience in undertaking medicolegal assessments and preparing reports in matters pertaining to fitness for work, total and permanent disability assessments, personal injury and workers compensation related matters. He is an accredited Medical Assessor with the Dispute Resolution Service for the Personal Injury Commission, an accredited WorkCover NSW Independent Medical Examiner. He is a SIRA accredited Injury Management Consultant (IMC). He is an accredited assessor for the WA Workers Compensation Commission. Dr Lim also provides consulting services to various insurers, state and national.
Dr Lim is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Psychiatrists with advanced standing in Psychotherapy.
